My philosophy on glucose is seriously simple: no excuse required, any excuse accepted. A bit like Hedberg, who wanted to buy a candle holder, but since the store had none, he got some cake.
I am well aware of the cell signalling pathways that make diabetes type II a big challenge for the 21st century, but as my dear Woody would say: you can only live to be a hundred if you give up all the things that make you want to live to be a hundred. And in the top 5 of that list, there´s cake.
As Mary sang (on tape, so she must have meant it…):
In ev’ry job that must be done
There is an element of fun
You find the fun and snap!
The job’s a game
And ev’ry task you undertake
Becomes a piece of cake
Just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down
In a most delightful way!
So when real science gets hard to swallow, I seek refuge in some sweet kitchen science.
